Site Editor - How To - Use the Pages Tool
To manage the pages on your site, the Pages tool in the Site Editor Toolbar is your best friend. Here, you will be able to add or delete pages on your site, control their name, add SEO keywords, and change the order in which your pages appear in your site navigation menu.
To get started managing the navigation of your site, first open up your site editor. Once there, select the Pages option from the grey site editor menu tray at the top of the page.
The page editor window should pop up, and you should see a list of your current pages. You may start out with just a Home page if you are just beginning to build your site.
To add a new page, click the blue "Add Page" button on the left hand side below your list of pages.
When adding a new page, you will have to select a Page Name, and type it in the space provided. By default, your page will be called "New Page."
Page Name: this is what users will see in the site menu to navigate to your new page.
Hot Tip! About Us and Contact Us are great pages to start with, in addition to your Home page! If you’re designing a site for a business, you might want to add pages for Products, Services, or Sales. If you’re hosting a personal page, you might want to set up a Photo Album, About Me, Resume, or Blog page. Use your imagination, and have fun with naming your pages, but be sure to keep the titles relatively short so they don't crowd your site menu.
Once you have settled on the Page Name for your new page, your page is all set!
If you want to add meta tags that are commonly used for search engines, click on the blue "Advanced Settings" button located beneath the page name when editing a page. This will allow you to edit the page description and keywords for search engines to find your page. This step is not required when creating a page.
To Edit an Existing Page, all you have to do is click the name of the page on the left. The information for it will appear on the right, and the page selected will highlight in Green.
Should you wish to Delete a page, you may do so by first clicking the page you wish to delete on the left, then clicking the red "Delete" button below the page's name.
To Reorder your pages, you may click any page name, hold it, and drag it either up or down and drop it where you want it. It is common to have your Home page appear first, and a page like Contact Us last, but it’s all up to you!
When you are done editing your pages, it is time to click the green Save button at the bottom right corner of the page editor. Click OK to any notices that pop up, and your site will refresh and show your new menu, including the new pages you have created!
